The Peak District Day Trip from Liverpool

The Peak District is Britain’s first National Park. Enjoy incredible scenic views of this unique landscape as we make a short climb to the top of Mam Tor where you can see for miles across the rolling hills. We will also spend our free time in the beautiful village of Castleton – there’s nothing better than relaxing in a cosy English pub with roaring fires after your walk in the fresh air. There are also opportunities to visit Peveril Castle (£5.60) or one of the local caverns (£9-12). Finally we will walk through either Cave Dale or Winnats Pass which are gorges formed during the Ice Age and you really have to see if for yourself!

Trip Itinerary:

We will have a fun walk to the top of Mam Tor (approx. 20 minutes to summit) where we will enjoy incredible views over the Derbyshire countryside. Then we will travel by coach 40 minutes to the village of Castleton. Here you’ll have free time for lunch with further options for walks to either Winnat’s Pass or Cave Dale (incredible limestone gorges typical of the areas). There are also opportunities to visit Peveril Castle (£5.60) or one of the local caverns (£9-12) if you wish.

Walk difficulty: Moderate short, steep climb with rocky terrain and steps.

Variations on the trip

Sometimes things don’t always go to plan and British weather can be changeable. If the guides deem the area to be too flooded, icy or if there are extreme high winds or heavy rain we may offer an alternative to Mam Tor which would be to visit the town of Bakewell – famous for the Bakewell Tart….yummy. We do believe in getting outside and enjoying the outdoors so if it’s simply raining, please come prepared as we will get wet (and have a great time doing so!).

What to bring:

-A smile of course! Come ready to make friends and enjoy the day.

-Snacks, water, mobile phone, a charger pack, your itinerary and booking number plus some money for lunch or souvenirs.

What to wear:

-Waterproof walking boots or trainers suitable for walking and muddy conditions.

-Waterproof jacket

-Warm layered clothing

-Hat, scarf and gloves in the winter

-Some walks are not suitable for umbrellas so be prepared with waterproof clothing.

-A hat in summer

-Sunscreen all year

-Umbrellas are not recommended for the top of Mam Tor (we don’t want you to blow away!) so please come dressed prepared if the weather forecast is rain.
