Castles of Wales Day Trip

Visit the mighty fortress and World Heritage Site of Caernarfon Castle (entrance included). Caernarfon Castle was one of Edward I’s most ambitious projects – and one of the most visited attractions in Wales due to its sheer size and impressive architecture. After visiting the castle we will have free time for lunch in Caernarfon town. Next it’s a visit to Llanberis and the scenic Welsh Castle of Dolbadarn – set on Llyn Padarn Lake at the base of the Snowdonian mountain range. A great beauty spot in the UK!

Trip Itinerary:

We will visit two very different castles in one day! First we will have an informative history overview of Caernarfon Castle before having free time to explore in small groups or by yourself. We will have an optional meet up time for those who would like to join the guides to see the ‘picture postcard’ view of the Castle from across the river Seiont. You will have free time for lunch in Caernarfon town. After this we will travel 20 minutes by coach to Llanberis where we will take a short walk through the woods to view Dolbadarn Castle. We will have some free time here to enjoy the views before heading back to Liverpool.

Walk difficulty: Medium. Some cobbled streets, small narrow staircases in the Castle and a short steep climb when walking up to Dolbadarn Castle. It can be muddy and slippy here so come prepared with walking boots or suitable footwear with grips.

What to bring:
-A smile of course! Come ready to make friends and enjoy the day.
-Snacks, water, mobile phone, a charger pack, your itinerary and booking number and some money for lunch or souvenirs.

What to wear:
-Waterproof walking boots or trainers suitable for walking and wet/muddy conditions.
-Waterproof jacket
-Warm layered clothing
-Hat, scarf and gloves in the winter
-Some walks are not suitable for umbrellas so be prepared with waterproof clothing.
-A hat in summer
-Sunscreen all year

“Excellent opportunity” *****
I traveled with the Liverpool Daytripper twice to see the castles of Wales. The trips are punctual and organized and you can make the most of the time to know the most difficult and longest places to reach by train. Worth it!
